Redemption
Lutheran Church, located on the corner of Rhawn and Bustleton,
in the Rhawnhurst section of Northeast Philadelphia has been
serving the Lord for over 75 years.
Redemption's roots go back to the German community in the Rhawnhurst
neighborhood. In the early days, the congregation met
in a farmhouse on Fuller Street across from the present church
property. The building of our current facility began in1933
and was continually expanded until 1961. The parsonage, on Fuller
Street, was built in 1970.
Redemption has also been built on the rich legacy of ministry,
mission and service of our members. Like the Rhawnhurst neighborhood,
our congregation has grown and changed to meet the different
needs and challenges of each decade of the 20th century. Building
on the traditions of the past, we remain open to how God will
continue to renovate and re-shape our ministry and mission in
the new century.
